Our shop is on North Shiloh Road in Garland, where owner Nick Brown has run Classic Concrete Coatings since starting it in 2018. From the door, it is a few miles to the spot where Lake Highlands meets the Garland city limit. Late at night the drive to Church Road takes about 13 minutes, and Dallas City Hall downtown about 23. Daytime runs longer, which is why this page covers the Dallas neighborhoods nearest us rather than the whole city.
Most of these houses went up between the 1920s and the 1960s, and the garage slab is often as old as the house. Our residential floor is polyurea at the bottom, color flake broadcast wall to wall, and a clear polyaspartic top. On a slab that has held cars since Eisenhower, prep decides how the floor turns out.
Dallas reaches into five counties, and every neighborhood named here is in Dallas County. Lake Highlands covers most of Northeast Dallas north of White Rock Lake, with Lake Highlands Estates and Merriman Park Estates among its named parts. Lochwood is the square mile edged by Northwest Highway, Jupiter Road and Garland Road. Casa Linda Estates lies south of Garland Road, Forest Hills sits on the lake's south side, and Lakewood is farther into East Dallas.

Behind a Lochwood ranch, the back patio is often poured from the same era of concrete as the garage. It can carry the same flake color under a polyaspartic topcoat that is UV-stable.

Merriman Park opened in 1956 and Merriman Park Estates a year later, and nearly every lot was built by 1960. Lochwood's one- and two-story brick ranches come from the same postwar run. A garage floor that has carried cars for sixty years can hold oil, worn patches, old paint and settlement cracks. Grinding opens the surface, cracks get filled, and any old coating is dealt with before polyurea goes down.
In Lake Highlands Estates, one 1957 house has a side-facing attached garage, a 1967 house has alley access and a 1958 house has a detached garage facing the rear. How the crew reaches the slab changes the setup for the day. Nick notes where we can park and stage at the estimate, before an install date is set.
Lakewood was founded in 1914, and its Tudor, Dutch Colonial and Prairie spec homes went up through the 1920s and 1930s. Forest Hills' oldest houses also date from the 1920s. A garage behind one of these may have been rebuilt decades after the house, so Nick reads each slab on its own. Parts of Lakewood sit in a City of Dallas conservation district; if your project needs review, we can supply product and color information.
Street elevations in Lake Highlands can vary by 50 feet, and Dixon Branch of White Rock Creek runs through Lochwood. Underneath, Dallas County is heavy Blackland Prairie, with clayey soils across its eastern two-thirds, and the county soil survey rates that clay very high for shrink and swell. Movement like that can show up as hairline cracks in a garage or patio slab. Our prep fills them before the polyurea base goes on.

For homes we install one system: a polyurea base, full color flake and a clear polyaspartic topcoat. Nick describes polyurea as four times more flexible than epoxy, which matters on Dallas County clay that moves with moisture.
